Since most of us seem to be from ffnet, why not start a thread related to it!? ;D Post all your frustrations related to ffnet here! From irritating authors that only care about reviews to the most shitty piece of work you've ever read! Rant about your frustrations as an ffnet writer or maybe vent out your annoyance with unreasonable flamers! Get it all out here!Let me start... For one thing, most ffnet writers (or at least, the new ones) seem to think that the review rate is the most important thing as a fanfic writer. They make it a weird kind of 'competition', as Mysfaer termed it in the "Your favorite author" thread, simply to patronize themselves as authors. And when they do get flames, [or rather constructive criticisms,] they fume instead of accepting their mistakes. (i'm not saying that everyone is like that, though.) And you know what? i admit it. i used to be one of them. i know it's sad, but when i first joined ffnet --- it was projected to me that the review rates are really important to get the readers to read. i know it may not be true, but this is what i felt. and i believe i'm speaking for all those who feel the same way as I do. but hey, no need to psychologize me though. i'm giving myself therapy to get over it. right now, i'm simply writing for myself. but admit it. when no one reviews for your fics, it gets you down, right? and in the same way, when you do get reviews, it gets you elated. ;D

*moves to fanfiction section*
yes a lot of the new authors are like that now... and its filled with a lot of new authors... there's some authors that have the bad written story that i've ever read and they are so popular! first of all they had no detail, and it was jus so monotoned... argh...
the reviews do have their good points... yes what you said mysfaer... i get happy when i get reviews... but reviews should be more constructive which is what the whole point of ff.net was supposed to be to begin with.

reviews to me are like something to motivate me to write more and better stories. but if it is used as some sort of competition thing, then it is completely nonsense. but what i think is most people would look at the number of reviews as story has FIRST, and if it's a high number, they would click into the story...ummm.....that's sorta a wrong way of judging a story...and you're not even suppose to judge it until you read it!!

I know, like I said before.. that one girl she had so many reviews... but when i read it.. it was soo bad... but i think she made them herself.. there was 10 reviews that said i like you story in ten different versions... but they were all VERY similar

i know what you guys mean... it is quite possible that she made all those reviews by herself. (the girl you mentioned, fungiwoman) you know... so she wouldn't look bad. hmmm... were they signed? or anonymous? if they're all anonymous, it is quite possible she did write them herself. i had a review like that once. the anonymous person said my fic was bad. and s/he didn't even tell me why! it irritates me! I want to improve on my writing, but then, since no one reviews my fics that much, i don't know what to improve on. i really don't get much criticisms on my work so i have no idea what is wrong with my writing... for one thing, i know my romance fic "Until There Was You" progresses too slowly. the others, i have no idea what to think.

well, the other thing that irritates me is the way people review. I mean, good reviews are nice to have once in a while, but ones like "Good Story! Please Update" really makes me mad. And if you consistently have those all the way, then it's better if they said nothing. Not all stories are perfect, and they can at least make a better comment then just "Good Story"

That is too true! Although it is nice to know that people are reading, i still want to improve on my writing -- not to be stuck as a (excuse the language) "sucky" author.
and it's true, i've read fics that became so popular but i didn't even like the way the story was written... i guess to each their own applies.

yes that girl had a lot of anonymous... i got used to those reviews with jus good story blah blah... because frankly i really appreciate people actually taking time to read my fic. i've never considered myself as a good writer anyways.

most of us feel that way... uh... er... i think. i don't read that much fanfics, especially CCS. (odd as that may seem...) but i do appreciate new ideas when i read a fanfic. they're fresh and interesting. ;D i love authors with gold mines for stories. ^_____^

Hii! I'm back from nowhere! ;D Interesting thread....you really needed to ventilate the frsutrations ne Fibby-chan? I think that's good since I used to feel the same way too (at least when I was still writing fanfics...). I know wht you guys mean about Anonymous reviews flaming your fic. Sheesh, I don't know what's up with them but one thing's for sure...they don't know the real definition of "review". I don't think its' psychologizing, you're actually "coping" . Yup, if no one reviews, it could get you down (unless you're writing for your own satisfaction, which also defeats the purpose of writing (unless its a diary ^^). Ja~!

Kekekeke! You're not the only one. I'm currently reading fanfics too, particularly the following: Sora-Matt (Digimon), Akito-Tohru (Fruits Basket---yes, one of my evil pleasures ;D), and Sesshoumaru-Kagome (Inuyasha).
KEkekekekekekekeke....
