it's just a topic that me and callistan brought up one day when we finished watching spirited away. personally, i don't think all the miyazaki movies are that great in general. Spirited Away, for instance, was sorta weird and somewhat confusing to me. There are lots of unexplained places that left me in confusion, like that man eating spirit thingy. What was the point of that in the movie? and also, i think it ended way too sudden, and there wasn't really much action that thrills me overall in this movie. But, it does have it's strengths, such as the quality of animation, etc. Still, i don't think it is worth such a high rating. also, other miyazaki movies such as Porco Rosso, My Neighbor Totoro, and that other tanuki one (forgot the name of it), i thought it was plain flat out boring. Porco Rosso is the worst of them all. I fell asleep in the middle of the movie, and i never woke up again. My Neighbor Totoro was just absolutely plotless, other than a big fat giant totoro coming out of nowhere. and the Tanuki one just simply dragged on time. But others such as Mononoke Hime, Nausicaa, and Laputa are the ones that i agree, is fantastic! They were the ones with the most action, and the ones that keeps you up in suspence during the whole movie. These three, i have nothing against them. Overall, i have heard some people saying that the Miyazaki movies are the best anime they've ever seen, and i started questioning this. Is it really that great? or is there something REALLY great inside these movies that i haven't discovered yet?? Please tell me your opinions of it.

i didn't find it that confusing and i understood why the faceless guy was there... but i think that most miyazaki films are overrated because a number of them are really good... you may have not thought that spirited away was a good movie i thought it was excellent... i guess i jus understand it more *shrugs* but i still have yet to watch the other movies... but spirited away i thought... was worth the money...

there it is again...i know that there are a ton of people out there that thinks spirited away was excellent, and i somewhat do agree with it. but my question is 'Why is it excellent??'
and also, i think i've seen about 10 miyazaki movies, and i think only 1 is EXCELLENT, 2 is good, and the rest sucks. yea, you may be right, maybe it's because some are good, and people assume that the others are good too.

why is it excellent? it had amazing graphics, and i felt like i was sucked into the movie in the amount of time it was running... the way how they protrayed the world seemed real not like fake like some other movies i've watched. but sometimes i can't explain why i like a movie, it just clicks with me you understand? but i thought the ending sucked... but i loved the rest of it!

exactly...but the thing is, it didn't have the same effect on me, but a lot of people must've felt that same way you did when they watched the movie...

Yes I find that the movies are way overrated to. The two ones that I saw that I actually liked were Laputo and Princess Mononoke... spirited away was meh... and My Neightbor Totoro dear god that was sooo boring...

yea but what really annoys me is that everyone seems to love these movies. So you get really hyped up about watching the movie... and then it ends up being really boring

lol, actually, i don't know how most of the movies goes. (yet i've seen them too) the thing is, it's sorta interesting in the beginning, but the pace of the movie is so slow, that i fall asleep in the middle, then wakes up in time to see the ending.
