I've noticed that most art teachers don't like anime. I've known 3 teachers who really don't like anime. One of my art teachers was like 'I hate anime. I'm tired of seeing puppy dog eyes on long skinny bodies. With their small nose and mouths.' So I just wanted to complain about annoying art teachers who get on my nerves by saying anime isn't really art, and that I shouldn't draw it. Screw them!

My teachers don't know anime, probably. When I draw something in class (yes, I draw pictures in class LOL), she/he either won't care, or go, "Hey, that's cute!"

We're not allowed to draw any anime in art class. We are only allowed to draw things we can see with our own eyes. We are not allowed to draw things someone else has drawn, ie. illustrations in books, and we cannot make up anything. Therefore we can't draw anime, because we can't draw things we make up, and we can't draw anything someone else has already drawn. My teacher did talk about anime once in class though. She said she recognized it as a form of art, though she didn't understand it. Another teacher made fun of it, but he has only seen the stuff on TV, and thinks it just Fighting Foodoons and stuff. He was angry that Spirited Away won best animated picture 'cause he though Ice Age deserved it more. He doesn't dispise it, he just thinks it's really, really stupid. My film studies teacher doesn't watch it, but said he would show it in class if enough people wanted to see some. However when he said 'anime' everyone started saying how stupid it was, so we didn't get to watch any. Basically, some teachers respect it and those who watch it, though they don't themselves, and others just think it's stupid.

Some people have no respect for Japanese culture. (At least, that's what I think anime is part of.) *eyes Mr ***** *

I agree. Some people even make fun of the Japanese because they make anime. Most people just hate anime because they hate anything that's different or anything they're not used to. So closed minded.

I'm lucky cuz I ain't the only otaku in my art class. My teacher knows he can't talk to bad about anime, cuz HE KNOW he gonna get a beat down! I can't believe your teacher said that about Spirited Away, man if I was in that class I would of snapped on that turd. Who does he think he is? I understand that everyoine is subject to their own opinion, but I don't think he should have called it stupid, especially an amazing film like Spirted Away. I saw Ice Age and it wasn't great. Sure it was computer animated, but it was boring. Thank goodness I wasn't the one who spent the money to rent it out. It's just really people's ignorance. It pisses me off.

Some people think anime is just like those other cartoons, and some don't make judgements AFTER seeing an actual episode of an anime. Or, they only see one anime, which might be bad, and they assume all animes are like that.

Well, for one thing, i know otakus are being stratified bcoz they love anime. in my country, though i think it applies in any other place, most otakus are being dismissed merely as freaks or weirdos and such. i don't discriminate, though i recognize that otakus do have eccentricities. (and i'm one of em! ;D) but then, they (the ones who discriminate) do have some, too!

Yeah. I was so upset when he said that about Spirited Away. It was a great movie, and he didn't even see it. I saw Ice Age, and it suxed. Sure it was computer animated, but the animation still didn't look that great, the plot was overly simplictic, and the characters had no depth. It wasn't even funny! I would have said something, but the rest of the class was agreeing with him because they saw ten minutes of the dubbed version of Pokemon, and came to the conclusion that everything Japan creats suxs. If I watched ten minutes of the worst American film ever made and thought all American movies suxed would that be fair judgement? Actually, one girl (a friend of mine) tried to stick up for anime because she knows I like it. Sure her arguments were all but unheard by the rest of the class, but I'm still glad she did that.

Yeah I know what you mean. Anime is everywhere on the Internet, and they do have some series in the video store, though they usually only get the first few episodes. They even sell manga at the new comic store. However, though there are obviously anime fans in my area they don't go to my school.

Same over here. Where I used to live, I was slowly cultivating a mini empire. I was to be the otaku leader , since I was converting all my friends into otakuism. ;D But nooooo I had to move away. However my plans will shortly continue in my new location. hehehehheheheheehdhhe ;D
