^^;; Well that's unfortunate ^^;; I dislike video games a lot and my schoolmates like them so much. So I don't have that much in common with my schoolmates

I can't. Where I live there is nothing. Everyone who lives near me is either way older or way younger than I am except for one person, and we don't have anything in common. No one knows what anime really is at my school, and I'm considered boyish just for liking video games. It's difficult for me to do anything such as talk to people, find information, etc. without the Internet. My parents seem to think I'm spending too much time on it, so they limited me to two hours per night. If it wasn't for the Internet, I could never get anime info. the school your at sucks.. no offensive or anything.. but they're still stuck in the thought if you like v-games your boyish.. THATS UBER CRAZY!

I actually watched anime for a great deal of my life without even knowing it. When I was little I used to watch Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, and Speed Racer, but I had no idea they were anime. Then I got into DBZ (I was still pretty young), and Pokemon got popular among my peers, but none of us knew it came from Japan (stupid naive children). Some people assumed it was done by an eccentric group of American animators, but I was too stupid back then to know the difference. Then I finally got addicted to Gundam Wing and Tenchi Muyo (I only got to see the first episode on my grand parents dish). I already knew it came from Japan by then, but that's when I really got addicted to it. I know I must sound stupid now. I don't blame you, but my first anime was actually Ranma 1/2, and i watched it chinese dubbed. I was like 5 back then, and i thought chinese people created it instead. but now i know it's the gift from god called anime! And about your school, Grau, i can't help but agree with Myrn that it really does suck for you to go there. I mean, video games are now popular among all genders, so why would they stereotype you like that? those things i just don't understand...

I am not offended at all, Myrna. In fact, I agree with you. My school is filled with preepies and everyone likes to judge others for the stupidest things. Most of the girls that go there are very, very girly and don't care about anything but boyfriends. There are some exeptions, but other than my friends and a few other people everyone suxs. Basically most things religion, anime, girls playing RPGs, etc. aren't accepted by the majority of the population. If you don't fit your stereotype, you are an outcast.

Yeah, lots of girls in my school care about make-up, boys, fashion, etc only. No offense (yeah right) but I think they're a disgrace to the other girls.

I agree. Thay are so annoying I often want to punch them out or something. Sadly they always have their boyfriends to protect them, and they aren't afraid to sic their boyfriends on anyone who messes with them. They don't usually hurt me physically, but they will get them to throw rocks and stuff at me, and shove me around, and put gun on my combination lock. Why can't they fight their own battles? Oh yeah, 'cause they're stupid morons that can't stand up for themselves so they get their boyfriends to do it for them. (Sorry, I'm upset right now)

Some people are like that, and I'd say they're not worth making friends with. *rolls eyes*

I agree, but I can't really say anything because they don't know that yet. In fact, there are a lot of things they don't know about me.

It's good to stay mysterious sometimes. It'd be no fun if people know you all too well, ne? About anime, I don't know why people would just assume all anime are like cartoon - for little kids. I mean, is Sailor Moon and DragonBall the only things they've heard of?

Personally, I think all girls are born with an interest into looking good, including make up and fashion (no sexism intended). I mean, doesn't every girl want to feel [and look] pretty? Its just natural ^^ Like fungiwoman said, if its just that though, then there's a problem.
That's just immaturity >.< Its not like everyone is gonna like one particular thing, so they should just back off >.> Thing is, if you have pride in what you like, and you don't care what others say, they often tend to back off - At least, that's how its worked in my experience.
Perhaps find an anime that suits their interests or character, and show it to them? I've converted a lot of haters into weaker anime fans just by finding an anime that fits their taste and making them watch it. They thank me for that ^_^ Mind you, I realise some people are too stubborn to give anything a chance, but its worth a shot, if possible?
Definitely not friends in that case. 'Friends' are supposed to be understanding and not care about what their other friends like and don't like. If they don't like what you do and continue to bother you about it, just ask them to have some respect for what you enjoy, as you have respect for what they do. If they continue to be bitches after that, one would think that you could do much better than them.
Anyway, pardon my opinion, but there it is ^^.

There was a time when very few of us liked Anime. We got mocked for it. I had one friend who was into it. Now everybody loves it and they dont know the first thing about anime! It gets on my nerves sometimes and i really dont know why. For example...one day on my friends xanga she had an edited picture of herself with twinblades on her wrists and a weird outfit that somebody made. she was laughing hysterically on it and saying how anime she looked. It just looked like a cheap halloween costume. I dont know why this bothered me...it might be because she mocks me for liking anime. Then there are the few that come to me because it looks interesting and want me to suggest a few. I do have one friend thought that is obsessed as i am! He lives in Florida though and i live in Pennsylvania.
